A subway to Westwood by 2017? Maybe.

The Westside Subway Extension—along with a number of other key Southern California transit projects–could get moving a lot faster than expected under the “30/10 Initiative.” The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board today unanimously gave its backing to the initiative, which seeks to finish a dozen projects in 10 years (instead of 30) through federal loans to be repaid with Measure R funds.
